Today’s poem

STRICTLY COME DANCING The spectacular Strictly is here again; All climb aboard the glitter train. With soap stars, singers, a presenter or two, Weeks of entertainment for me and you. Where friendships are made and rivalries begin, It’s anyone’s guess who’ll eventually win. The celebs get their partners, the pairings are made, But no couple knows who will make the grade. Spray tans at the ready, sequins of every hue, The professionals teaching the celebs what to do. The amazing live orchestra are fabulous to hear, The studio audience will clap and they’ll cheer. From fast Latin to ballroom, so full of grace, Which celebrity will keep up the pace? Who’ll be heading to Blackpool? The highlight of the show. Who will be good enough? Only the judges know. The classic waltz sways, a joy to observe, But which of the couples will keep their nerve In the dreaded dance-off to keep their place? The terrifying judges they’ll have to face. The criticism usually honest and fair, The public decides the winning pair. Who’ll get the glitterball? We’ll have to wait and see, By watching every weekend on the BBC.
