Chelsea nearing £53m deal to seal Costa’s return to Atletico
CHELSEA striker Diego Costa hopes the club can conclude transfer talks with Atletico Madrid by the end of the week. Atletico are making a revised proposal of £40million, plus £9m in add-ons and a £4m bonus payment for Costa’s early release. Costa has travelled to Madrid, where he hopes to train while the clubs thrash out terms. Chelsea wanted Costa to return to training and settle his differences prior to agreeing to his sale, but there is also a desire to get the matter resolved quickly so that it doesn’t become a greater distraction to Antonio Conte’s plans. The two sides meet in the Champions League on September 27 and are keen to have a deal resolved before then. Meanwhile, Sportsmail understands that Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal are also showing an interest in taking the frontman on a short-term loan until January.
