Her Royal iNess! The Queen has an iPod at Balmoral

WHEN she first came to the throne, her favourite songs would have been played through a gramophone.

Now, more than 60 years on, it seems the Queen is happy to embrace modern technology by keeping an Apple iPod and docking station in her drawing room at Balmoral.

The 91-year-old monarch’s mini sound system was spotted on a side table yesterday as she welcomed Sir Peter Cosgrove, the Governor-General of Australia, to her Royal Deeside estate.

Palace. It is understood she already owned a silver iPod Mini, given to her by Prince Andrew in 2005.

Her staff and grandchildren reportedly download music on to the iPod for her – with the annual Proms concerts understood to be a particular favourite.

Last year, Radio 2 revealed a playlist of the Queen’s favourite tunes from speaking to those closest to her. Among the list were hymns, songs from musicals including Oklahoma! and Annie, and the pop hit Sing by Gary Barlow, which the Take That star performed for the Queen at her Diamond Jubilee concert in 2012.

Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans has claimed that Abba’s Dancing Queen is also one of her favourites, although that did not make it on to the playlist.
