- By Xantha Leatham

IN THEIR 1990s heyday, they became known as the original ‘supers’.

Last night Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Carla Bruni and Cindy Crawford graced the catwalk again for the Versace show at Milan Fashion Week.

The supermodels, together worth £200million and facing their 50s, seem to have lost none of their sparkle as they wore shimmering designer gowns. Versace is said to have invented the supermodel, plucking a select few from the runway ranks and elevating them to celebrity status. His five stars are:

1. CARLA BRUNI 49, dated rock stars Eric Clapton and Mick Jagger and is now married to former French president Nicolas Sarkozy. Worth: £11million.

4. CINDY CRAWFORD 51, was named in 1995 as the highest-paid model on the planet. Her daughter Kaia Gerber, 16, has followed in her footsteps on to the catwalk. Worth: £74million.
