Shoppers in a frenzy after must-have £45 M&S dress sells out

- By Isabella Fish

FINDING the perfect dress is hard enough.

But Marks and Spencer has sent shoppers into a frenzy with a cosmic print ‘musthave’ frock that has sold out for a second time.

The navy £45 constellation print long sleeve midi dress is now out of stock in all sizes online, leaving many customers ‘gutted’ that they did not snap one up in time.

The fashionable design has been sported by several fashion bloggers and also by TV presenter Victoria Derbyshire, who wore it on her BBC show this week.

According to fashion experts, the star print pattern is on trend for the autumn, while the fluted style sleeves and over-the-knee length offers a flattering shape – at an affordable price tag.

One of the lucky shoppers who was able to snap up the dress before it sold out was fashion blogger Erica Davies. She posted a photograph, right, of her in the design, prompting several of her followers on social media site Instagram to write comments expressing their disappointment that they can no longer buy it.

M&S has not confirmed whether it will restock the sought-after dress, but a version with mesh sleeves is still available online, along with a similar top.

However, the retailer might not restock the item in order to encourage shoppers not to delay in buying when they see a product they like. Social media users told of their disappointment that they can no longer purchase the item. Ashleigh Ferris said: ‘So sad, hope they bring it back.’

Hannah Argyle wrote: ‘Adore this dress! Gutted it’s sold out!’ And Karen Maye commented: ‘M&S had this dress on every press release, had been keeping a close eye online and In store but missed it. Why oh why do M&S really push certain pieces but then produce them in tiny numbers?’ This is not the first time M&S has seen an item fly off the shelves.

In 2015 a £1 Seventies-style suede skirt sold out after it was seen being worn by US socialite Olivia Palermo and model Alexa Chung.

It was pre-ordered by thousands of customers and sold out on several separate occasions.
