Voice coach who helped Kate with her vows dies at 48
AN ‘EXTRAORDINARY’ voice coach who helped the Duchess of Cambridge deliver her wedding vows has died at the age of 48.
Anthony ‘Ant’ Gordon Lennox, who passed away after a short illness, helped Kate with breathing techniques and voice control before she married Prince William in 2011. The former BBC Question Time producer will also be mourned by the political and business leaders he discreetly advised, many of whom came to count on him as a friend.
Through his London-based company, AGL, founded in 2004, he worked with numerous captains of industry.
Friends say nothing gave him greater pleasure than seeing his clients grow in confidence, even if his fun-filled methods were occasionally unorthodox.
Mr Gordon Lennox was also passionate about politics and worked as an adviser to the Conservative Party.
David Cameron said: ‘He was one of the most kind-hearted and decent people I ever had the privilege of meeting. And he was passionate about his politics – wanting rational, moderate, reasonable arguments to win the day.’
Tory MP Sir Nicholas Soames paid tribute to an ‘exceptional’ individual, saying: ‘Anthony was one of the most talented men of his generation and a lovely man.’
Viscount Rothermere, chairman of Daily Mail and General Trust, added his voice to the tributes, saying: ‘It was an absolute privilege to have known Anthony and have him as a great friend.
‘I have never met a more generoushearted and warm individual. He dedicated his life to others and cared deeply about how politics shaped the country.
‘He was a man who put duty and friendship ahead of himself and his death has left a void in many people’s lives.’
Mr Gordon Lennox was devoted to his large and loving family and his girlfriend Flora Soames. His friend and colleague Tom Stuttaford said: ‘Ant wasn’t just somebody who touched countless lives. He changed them. Ant’s life was far too short. He will be hugely missed.’
