POP TO THE SHOP

She ordered all her groceries, At the click of a plastic mouse, And before she knew it, there they were, Delivered to her house.

She didn’t need to leave her room, Or talk to anyone, Just flick the switch on her PC, And then the job was done.

Then one day she flicked the PC on, But saw a big black screen. The PC needed surgery — and her larder was quite lean!

She pressed the ‘shift’, she pressed ‘backspace’, And checked it was plugged in, But hunger was getting the best of her She could have thrown it in the bin!

There was only one alternative — She would have to shower and dress, And set out to her local store, When last she went she couldn’t guess!

Children scooted by her On their way to school, And a mini Spider-man and Batman, Had a little duel.

A puppy at the end of its leash, Sniffed around her feet, And she couldn’t help, but smile a while, On that sunny summer street.

And she noticed that the flowers, Were open, in full bloom, And thought she must remember, To buy some for her room.

In the shop she chatted, And had a good look round, Then bagged up all her groceries — Paying for them with real pounds!

She smiled and headed off back home, At a steady pace, And thought about her shopping trip, That PC could replace.
