I am haunted by what he did to me

BRITISH scriptwriter Sophie Dix claims her acting career was ‘massively cut down’ after a sexual assault by Weinstein at the Savoy Hotel in London.

She told how the Hollywood mogul performed a sex act in her presence after she was invited up his room ‘to watch some rushes’ – unprocessed footage from a day’s filming.

Aged 22, she had been cast in The Hour Of The Pig, with Colin Firth. During shooting in 1990, she was invited to watch the rushes in Weinstein’s room after dinner. She says it was ‘the single most damaging thing that’s happened in my life’.

‘As soon as I was in there, I realised it was a terrible mistake,’ she told the Guardian. ‘I remember talk of a massage and I thought that was pretty gross. Then before I knew it, he started trying to pull my clothes off and pin me down and I just kept saying, “No, no, no”.

‘He was really forceful. I ran for the bathroom and locked the door.’

She emerged to see Weinstein performing a sex act. ‘I closed the door again and locked it. When I heard room service come to the door, I just ran.’

Miss Dix, 48, said the incident left her traumatised and depressed, and turned her off a film career. She told her family, friends and colleagues about the incident at the time but ‘people in the industry didn’t want to know about it, they didn’t want to hear’.

She considered going to police but feared she would lose her career.
