The last insult

HAVING spent 1965 in Aden with 45 Commando Royal Marines, I looked forward to the new TV series The Last Post. I was so disappointed.

How anyone can write about a tumultuous time in our history without any research is an insult to all who served there. Glaring errors were rife. Every Land Rover in those days had a metal cage over it to prevent hand grenades from being lobbed in.

To see the Royal Military Police in uniforms that looked as if they had slept in them was laughable — our uniforms were immaculately starched.

If I watch any more, it will only be to laugh at it.
