‘WE WILL SHOW NO FEAR’

Roberts in rallying cry ahead of Bayern tie

- By MARK WILSON

Robben — so we will have to be really on our game,’ said the 20-year-old winger. ‘But these are the occasions we strive for and enjoy. So we will look forward to that, be positive, show no fear and hopefully things will work out for us.’ Celtic suffered an opening 5-0 rout at the hands of PSG but they responded in confident style in Brussels and are currently level with Bayern on three points. On-loan Manchester City star Roberts scored the second goal that night and believes the result proved their mettle. ‘I think it just showed our quality and our intent this year, particularly after the first game,’ he added. ‘We had that mentality not to let that happen again. ‘We have a great bunch of quality players and we knew that we could go and get a result there. We did that, we played our normal game which I didn’t really expect, but we did. ‘To go there and score three goals away from home was top drawer and we will take that into our next games.’ Meanwhile, German World Cup winner Mats Hummels has warned Celtic that Bayern intend to dominate them into submission tomorrow. It’s a crunch game for both sides in Bavaria, but 28year-old central defender Hummels admitted he isn’t interested in what Celtic do because he expects his side to take control of the game. He said: ‘To be honest, I hadn’t been thinking about the Celtic game until now. ‘But we are at home and we are definitely the ones who want to be dominant. ‘We’ll sit down and have a team meeting about Celtic and take it from there. ‘I don’t think we are under pressure at this stage — last season we lost at Atletico Madrid in our second game in the group, too. ‘We played really well against Freiburg. Now we want to build on this win. ‘Jupp Heynckes is very demanding in training. He wants us to play with great intensity and I think we showed that on Saturday.’

PATRICK ROBERTS insists Celtic will be fearless when confronted by Bayern Munich’s array of world-class talent.

Brendan Rodgers’ side enter the Allianz Arena for tomorrow evening’s Champions League clash seeking a shock result to build upon last month’s 3-0 win over Anderlecht.

Now back under the leadership of veteran coach Jupp Heynckes, Bayern thrashed Freiburg 5-0 in the Bundesliga at the weekend.

The German giants are also desperate for Group B points after losing to Paris Saint-Germain, but Roberts (right) is adamant that Celtic will stand up and be counted.
