Wallace in peace plea over Miller

- By GEORGE GRANT

LEE WALLACE has heaped praise on under-fire Rangers team-mate Kenny Miller and hopes any issues he has with the club are resolved soon. The furore surrounding the veteran striker flared up again this week after his agent, Dave Baldwin, took to social media to complain about the treatment his client has received. Ibrox manager Pedro Caixinha had claimed last week that there was no issue with Miller, but it remains to be seen if he will be part of the squad for Sunday’s Betfred Cup semi-final against Motherwell at Hampden. Rangers skipper Wallace, who is currently out injured, yesterday paid tribute to the 37-year-old, saying: ‘I just hope that any situations can be resolved as quickly as

possible. I haven’t said much on this and, obviously, I’ve got to make sure I’m really professional. ‘But speaking of my friend and of a team-mate, I can’t speak highly enough of what Kenny has done for my career, the amount of learning I’ve done off a top professional and a real Rangers man. ‘I think I stressed in and around the time he was due contract talks that we needed to do all we can to keep Kenny at the club. ‘He is the sort of person that’s going to drive everyone around him, including myself. I learn from him every day.’ Rangers defender Bruno Alves also praised Miller yesterday ahead of Sunday’s last-four clash against an in-form Motherwell side, saying: ‘Kenny Miller has trained as normal. He is doing his job like always. He is training very well. ‘We don’t need to motivate Kenny. From what I know of him, he motivates himself. He always shows his character in training and in matches. ‘For the big games, I do think it’s important to give knowledge to the younger players and tell them what to do. ‘These games can be emotional and, sometimes, you need to let the emotions out and play football. ‘We have a mix of young and experienced players — and the players who know so much about the Scottish competitions are very important. There will be pressure on Sunday but, at a big club like Rangers, there is always pressure. ‘Since I’ve arrived here, even the friendly games have had pressure on them because of the number of fans there to watch us. ‘It’s good to have this pressure, but we need to win for the fans.’
