BRAVING
sub-zero temperatures in Edinburgh, I was warmed by the opening movie of the 25th French Film Festival. Made by Michel Hazanavicius, the French writer and director behind the Oscar-winning hit The Artist, Redoubtable is a surprisingly amusing film about the pompous political filmmaker Jean- Luc Godard, uncannily impersonated by actor Louis Garrel. If a kind of Carry On Godard appeals, you can catch Redoubtable touring Scottish cinemas, although it’s hard to imagine the real Jean-Luc seeing the funny side.
