Singles’ Day success
SHOPPERS spent more than £19.1bn during Chinese sales bonanza Singles’ Day this year.
More than 140,000 brands participated, offering 15m products.
Singles’ Day is 18 times the size of Amazon’s Prime Day and more than two-and-a-half times bigger the Black Friday and Cyber Monday combined. It takes place on November 11 – or 11.11 – because the ‘1’ is meant to represent an individual not in a romantic relationship.
The fad started out as an opportunity for Chinese singletons to buy themselves a gift, but has spiralled into the world’s biggest shopping day of the year.
