Conflict at the Bank
THOUSANDS of potential conflicts of interest have been flagged at the Bank of England after an internal probe.
The Bank yesterday confirmed staff had 3,333 close relationships with related outside parties – which could include City employees.
It comes after Charlotte Hogg, the bank’s former deputy governor, quit after she failed to disclose that her brother worked at Barclays.
The figures were revealed by a Freedom of Information request by The Times. Yesterday the Bank said the disclosures ‘did not mean a conflict of interest exists’ and expected staff to remain independent.
