Club in a race against time to host Jags game

HEARTS face a race against time to complete work essential to the re-opening of Tynecastle this weekend — with a major question mark now hanging over Sunday’s match with Partick Thistle.

Six months after decanting from their spiritual home to facilitate the constructi­on of a new £12million main stand, the club have yet to receive the safety certificat­e they require to open for business again.

City of Edinburgh Council officials visited the site yesterday but the need for vital internal work to be completed, primarily in the concourse of the structure, meant they were unable to hand over the required paperwork.

They are due to return towards the end of the week, but unless their check list has been ticked off the match will not go ahead.
