Undefeated Warriors go on rampage in Swansea

- By STEFFAN THOMAS at the Liberty Stadium

GLASGOW WARRIORS destroyed the Ospreys in Swansea to maintain their unbeaten start to the Guinness Pro14 season. Dave Rennie’s side scored seven tries courtesy of George Horne, who grabbed a brace, Adam Hastings, replacement hooker George Turner, lock Scott Cummings, centre Brandon Thomson and Italy international Leonardo Sarto. And Rennie was shocked at the ease with which his side inflicted a record home league defeat on the four-time champions. ‘Scoring seven tries was well beyond our expectations,’ he said. ‘We had a few young fellas out there. I think we really dug in defensively and created a lot of pressure off our defensive efforts and turnovers. ‘We’ve had a good look at Ospreys recently and they’ve been very impressive in Europe. ‘If it was down to me, I would have taken the shots at goals rather than going to the corner but we leave the decision-making to the guys on the field and felt we had some momentum and a chance to apply a bit of pressure, which we did.’ Outside-half Hastings was the star of the show, scoring 17 points, including his try when he glided past three defenders. Glasgow, who included Ruaridh Jackson at full-back despite his involvement with Scotland on Saturday, were dominant from start to finish, with Horne crossing from short range to give them a 14-6 half-time lead. The visitors had the bonus point in the bag within five minutes of the restart, with Cummings barging over in the corner and Turner racing in unopposed from 40 metres after picking up a loose ball. Horne finished off a well-worked team try for his second and Thomson was gifted a try due to pathetic Ospreys handling. Sarto rubbed salt into Welsh wounds by grabbing an interception try from the half- way line on the final whistle.

SCORERS; OSPREYS — Pens: Davies (2). GLASGOW — Tries: Hastings, Horne (2), Cummings, Turner, Thomson, Sarto. Cons: Hastings (6).
