5in stilettos and £450 wrap coat

-

WE’VE become so accustomed to the slightly awkward, eyes downcast, royal engagement photocall that yesterday’s appearance of Harry and Meghan came as something of a shock.

But what a pleasant shock it was.

Meghan radiated so much confidence, good health and natural style, it was like a ray of Californian sunshine had lit up Kensington Gardens.

Her skin positively sparkled, her nails were trimmed short and her teeth were that particular shade of Hollywood white which only comes with a lot of expensive dentistry.

Even her make-up was pitch-perfect, a study in that West Coast American ‘no make-up, make-up look’. Meghan’s hair, as always, was blow dried in a very modern, smooth style (no crispy corkscrew curls for this fashionable girl).

But what of the outfit? A bottle-green dress by littleknown Italian label PAROSH and an wrap-coat by Canadian brand Line The Label suggests she may not feel obliged to support British fashion just yet.

While the exact price of the coat isn’t known, a similar style is retailing for £450. The outfit was not unlike something her future sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge would wear.

It could be the first indication that the LA girl who was once wedded to her ripped jeans, may feel under pressure to present a more grown up image.

But what Meghan chose to wear for the photocall was less interesting than how she wore it – with barnstorming confidence. Did you see how she managed the five-inch stiletto heels on those £552 Aquazzura nude suede shoes? She spun around on them as if they were merely trainers. Meghan also chose to support Canadian fine jewellery brand Birks for the photocall, wearing a pair of £ 50 1 carat yellow gold and opal earrings.
