COYLE MAY LET EAGLES LOOSE

- By ALASDAIR FRASER

ROSS COUNTY manager Owen Coyle could unleash Chris Eagles for the visit of Dundee today. The former Manchester United and Burnley winger became Coyle’s first signing eight days ago, but remained an unused substitute in last weekend’s draw at Tynecastle. The talented 32-year-old still needs match sharpness after a spell as a free agent since leaving Port Vale in the summer, but has impressed the County boss on the training ground. ‘The plan last week was to get Chris Eagles on to the field, but those plans went out of the window,’ revealed Coyle. ‘Our skipper got injured and then Jim O’Brien did, too, in the second half. We’d already used two of our allotted three subs which we hadn’t planned for. ‘I always have in mind what I want to do in games and that was kind of taken away from us. ‘Chris has trained very well this week, as they all have done. ‘Whether the time is right for him to start the game, that’s something we need to sit and think about. He does need match sharpness. ‘That being said, the only way he’ll get it is by playing games. ‘The plan last week was to introduce him to the league and the players and everything else, but it never happened. ‘Whether or not he comes off the bench this week, it’s certainly a nice option to have, that’s for sure.’ Coyle is determined to build on strong recent home form as Dundee come calling. ‘We know it’s going to be a tough game as they always are. We will be very respectful of the quality they have,’ he continued. ‘Equally, we know we’re in terrific form at home having beaten Hamilton and Motherwell, and then running Celtic very close. ‘We have to look to carry that on at home. The fans have been terrific, coming out in their numbers, getting behind the team and being vocal.’
