ART HISTORY The Art That Made Mexico, 9pm, BBC4 MEXICAN-BORN artist Alinka Echeverria hosts this new, epic portrait of her country through its art. GOTHIC PROFILE Edgar Allan Poe: Buried Alive, 9pm, PBS America A NEW profile of the writer of such brooding Gothic works as The Raven. The talking heads provide good context, especially in explaining Poe’s obsession with death, but the highlight is Denis O’Hare, who plays Poe in the efficient reconstructions. (Freesat 155, Sky 534, Virgin 276) CLASSIC MOVIE Yield To The Night, 10pm, Talking Pictures TV DIANA DORS (pictured with Michael Craig) is spellbinding in this British drama as a prisoner set to hang for murdering a love rival. By the time the film was released, the abolition of the death penalty was under way, but the film still packs a punch. (Freeview 81, Freesat 306, Sky 343, Virgin 445) SEASON ENDS Curb Your Enthusiasm, 10pm, Sky Atlantic THE long-awaited ninth season ends, and the fact that it has even matched what came before is a triumph in itself — so many shows fail when they try to recapture old magic. In the last episode, the big question is whether Larry is still under threat of death!
