OMENS ARE GOOD FOR GORGIE

- By JOHN McGARRY

JAMES FORREST says Celtic’s positive recent memories of Tynecastle have them primed to record a first win under the glare of its new main stand. The Parkhead club have not lost in their past 11 visits to Gorgie — with only one draw in that sequence. Craig Levein’s side approach Sunday’s showdown on the back of an upturn in form, having beaten Motherwell and Dundee to move into fifth in the Ladbrokes Premiership. But Forrest believes the fact Celtic have not lost there since going down 2-0 in October 2011, will see them arrive in the capital with a spring in their step. ‘It’s always a tough game through there and the crowd get behind them but we had a couple of good results there and we’ll take confidence and positivity from the Hamilton game into that,’ he said. ‘We know it will be hard but we need to start well.’ Celtic wrapped up the past two titles at Hearts’ spiritual home — a 3-1 win in April 2016 securing the flag for Ronny Deila’s men with a 5-0 victory last spring doing likewise for Brendan Rodgers. Forrest believes the atmosphere created by both sets of fans has a habit of bringing out the best in the visitors. ‘The Celtic support at Tynecastle is always incredible and it does help,’ added Forrest. ‘These are the games you want to play in because the atmosphere is always really good right from the first minute. ‘As a winger, you are close to the fans and the noise — but that’s part and parcel of a game there and it’s good to play up there — especially if we win. ‘Hopefully I can be part of that on Sunday.’ Forrest insisted that Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over Hamilton made Celtic ‘feel good’ about themselves following the frantic 2-2 draw at Hibernian last weekend. ‘It was really important after last Sunday’s match at Easter Road that we got the three points and scored a few goals and to feel good about ourselves again,’ he admitted. ‘They (Hamilton) came out and made it hard for us and, once they scored, it was important we got back ahead again pretty quickly and we managed to do it, which was good.’
