After heat of the jungle, Kezia’s out in the cold
SHE spent 11 days surrounded by snakes and spiders in the sweltering heat of the Australian jungle.
But Kezia Dugdale would have been glad of the company at Holyrood yesterday as she was snubbed by her own party colleagues.
Labour MSPs left their former leader to sit alone on the back benches during yesterday’s First Minister’s Questions – a day after she was reprimanded by the party for appearing on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here without its permission. But the sight of the 36-year-old sitting in isolation prompted fierce criticism of Scottish Labour.
Nationalist James Dornan said: ‘It was utterly disgraceful watching Kezia Dugdale’s Scottish Labour colleagues ignore her in the chamber and isolate her like she is some sort of pariah. Awful to watch and entirely unnecessary.’
The snub also caused a stir on social media, with Twitter user Pauline McComish writing: ‘Every Labour politician in the Scottish parliament should hang their head in shame. Why are you ignoring Kezia Dugdale? You are all acting like children. Please actually grow up and be an adult and don’t isolate anyone from your party.’
Another added: ‘I’m not a fan of the lady’s politics, but no one should suffer such schoolyard passive-aggressive bullying. Embarrassing in 2017.’ Miss Dugdale flew into Glasgow Airport from Australia just before midday on Wednesday.
She then met party bosses, including her successor Richard Leonard, and was formally reprimanded with a written warning over her ‘unauthorised absence’.
