Revealed: Latest tantalising clues to Meghan’s dress

‘Asked by the Royal Family’

SLINKY and figure-hugging, these drawings show a dress far from a traditional royal wedding gown.

But they are the ‘preliminary’ sketches apparently submitted by an edgy Israeli designer for Meghan Markle’s wedding dress.

Inbal Dror’s name was first thrown into the ring for the most highly-anticipated outfit of 2018 at the weekend.

The designer, with a penchant for revealing necklines and racy silhouettes, was ‘approached by the Royal Family’ to provide a sketch of a potential dress, the Jerusalem Post newspaper reported.

Initially a spokesman for the designer said she was ‘responding to an initiative of the Bridal Council to present the sketches’. But yesterday, as three of her designs were leaked online, Miss Dror’s representative said: ‘She was asked to do a sketch last week by the Royal Family. Unfortunately it’s a secret and I can’t give more details about it.

‘It is important to say that these are just preliminary sketches and weren’t distributed by her. She has no idea how they made it to the world media.’

One of the sketches – which appears to have ‘Meghan’ written on it – shows a design with puffed sleeves, a plunging neckline and figure-hugging shape.

Another depicts a dress with a more conservative A-line skirt and Victorian-style neckline.

Royal brides have made a point of wearing a British designer, but LA-born Miss Markle, 36, is very much an international woman.

Miss Dror would certainly be an interesting and left-field choice for the stylish actress. She is renowned in fashion circles for her daring and sensual handwoven outfits – some of which come with necklines that plunge right down to the waist. A review of her Autumn 2017 collection in Vogue said: ‘Dror is not known for dressing blushingly demure brides.’

The Tel Aviv-based designer is also no stranger to having stars wear her outfits – last year, pop star Beyonce wore one of her bridal gowns at the Grammys.

A Kensington Palace spokesman said: ‘We appreciate there’s a lot of interest in this but we’re not saying anything on this subject at the moment.

‘There will be plenty of detail to come over the coming weeks which we will release in good time. Until then people will have to be patient.’

Miss Markle will walk down the aisle at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle with Prince Harry, 33, on May 1 .

Today, the divorcee has her latest test of royal etiquette – a Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace.
