Is arranging the royal wedding on Cup Final day an own goal?

-

WHY the surprise that Harry and Meghan have chosen Cup Final day for their wedding? This intelligent couple had the wherewithal to maintain secrecy in their blossoming romance for a good six months before it was announced. Given that Prince Harry is rebellious, unconventional and a royal non-conformist, just like his mother Diana, the choice of his wedding date is far from an own goal. It is a chivalrous attempt to shield his wife-tobe from all the bally-hoo of being part of a royal soap opera. To preserve as much of their privacy as they possibly can, they have come up with a rather wonderful diversionary tactic. IAN R. WILLSHER, Milton keynes, Bucks. NO matter what date Harry and Meghan chose for their wedding, there would be a clash with something. I wasn’t expecting any Royals to be at the William Hill Cup final here in Scotland but Prince William should really

be at the FA Cup final as he is the President of the Football Association. Still, since the Queen owns the RAF, I’m sure they can get him to both events by helicopter! IAN STEWART, Glasgow.

GEOFF PALMER, Nottingham. I HAD to laugh at the suggestion there may be a fight over the remote control because of a clash between the FA Cup and the Royal wedding next year. Most of us these days have TVs galore and the ability to record programmes. NANCY ROBERTS, Falkirk, Stirlingshire. THE obvious solution is for the newlyweds to go straight from the royal wedding to Wembley. That means they can not only attend the Cup Final, but present the trophy. NICKY SAMENGO-TURNER, Hundon, Suffolk. WOULD I rather watch the royal wedding or 22 over-paid prima donnas kicking a ball? Silly question.

NEVILLE WITHERS, London W3. IT HAS been announced that the Archbishop of Canterbury is to marry Harry and Meghan. I thought polygamy was banned. RICHARD REID, Leicester.

?? ?? Engaged: Meghan and Harry IF HARRY marries Meghan in the morning, he should easily make it to the Cup Final in the afternoon.
