Bust-up at the Palace...bra fitter is stripped of her royal warrant

- By Royal Correspondent

THE Queen’s bra fitter has been stripped of her royal warrant after writing a book about life in her lingerie empire.

June Kenton, 82, who was dropped in July, had held the warrant, awarded to the royal household’s most trusted suppliers, since 1982. Her firm Rigby & Peller, first granted the honour 57 years ago, was also dropped.

Despite pleas for an explanation, she has not heard a word from the Royal Household since.

This has led to speculation that the Queen was offended by Mrs Kenton’s memoirs, written in 2016 and titled Storm in a D-Cup. In the book she wrote about fitting bras for the half-dressed Queen who was surrounded by corgis.

She also mentioned the late Queen Mother and told how Diana came for bra fittings and accepted posters of models in lingerie and swimwear for her sons, William and Harry.

Mrs Kenton said last night that she thought Buckingham Palace had overreacted. ‘We never come out of the fitting room talking about a customer, ever... let alone the Queen. I’ve never said one single word,’ she said.

Mrs Kenton started out on a market stall in Brixton before buying the Rigby and Peller name in 1982. She sold the firm for £8million in 2011 but remained on the board and personally fitted the Queen three times a year. Buckingham Palace said last night: ‘In respect of royal warrants, we never comment on individual companies.’
