Weinstein’s ‘£15m divorce payout’ to British wife
DISGRACED hollywood producer harvey Weinstein is to pay out around £15million in a mammoth divorce settlement with his British wife, according to reports.
Fashion designer Georgina Chapman initially stood by the movie mogul when he was accused late last year of raping or assaulting a number of women over four decades.
But as the allegations grew, she said she was leaving her husband – with whom she has two young children.
a prenuptial agreement demands Weinstein pay his wife £220,000 in spousal support for each of the ten years of their marriage, reports said.
added to that is the couple’s collection of luxury properties which is reportedly due to be divided between them. These include an £11million townhouse in new York, and a seven-bedroom home on a beachside estate in the hamptons worth £9.2million.
They have another home in Connecticut worth £3.1million and a house in Los angeles. Sources said the settlement will be filed in court in the next few days to avoid any public hearings.
The oscar-winning producer has been holed up at a luxury rehab clinic in arizona since the allegations broke in october. Miss Chapman, 41, is thought to have been given full custody of the couple’s children, Dashiell, seven, and india, four. She said in october: ‘My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered tremendous pain because of these unforgivable actions.’
Miss Chapman has not yet lodged documents to finalise the divorce, the new York Daily news reported. Weinstein, who also has three children from previous relationships, denies all allegations of non-consensual sex. Police from forces across america are thought to be working together to build a case against him.
But three months after more than 80 women started coming forward, prosecutors have only just started considering charges.
