Four injured after their own car ran them over

-

FOUR women have been injured – two seriously – after being hit by their own car.

The group had stepped out of the vehicle to inspect a fault when it rolled back and struck them.

June Holloway, 60, was seriously injured while an unnamed 59-year-old sustained a head injury. Miss Holloway’s sister Avril Cruikshanks, 58, and an unnamed 81-year-old suffered minor injuries.

Police are trying to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, which happened at 9.400pm on Wednesday in the Sighthill area of Edinburgh.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: ‘A Vauxhall Mokka moved backwards and collided with four women.

‘A 60-year-old sustained serious injuries to her body, while a 59-year-old suffered injuries to her head. Both were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where they remain in serious conditions. Two other women, aged 58 and 81, sustained minor injuries and were also taken to hospital as a precaution.’

He added: ‘Inquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances.’

Anyone with information should call the Road Policing Unit on 101, quoting incident number 3320 and January 10.
