They ain’t ’arf right on, Mum!

SNOWFLAKES are having a meltdown over friends, the Nineties hit sitcom which has just become available on Netflix. The harmless show has been damned by the sensitive darlings for being homophobic, misogynistic and cruel.

It also apparently had a lack of diversity (no black characters) and featured fat shaming — the latter in an episode about Monica being overweight when she was younger.

Oh crikey. Will you tell them about It Ain’t half hot Mum, or shall I? Judging by the millennials’ hysterical reaction to something as white bread as friends, if they were in charge of broadcasting, no quality comedy of the past 50 years or so would ever have made it on to the small screen.

Certainly not Ab fab, with its glorification of alcoholism (Patsy), its body dysmorphia (edina) and themes of parental cruelty (Saffy).

rising Damp? I don’t think so, what with rigsby’s persistent sexual harassment of lonely Miss Jones, plus his habit of calling Philip ‘the dark gentleman’. There was an appalling lack of female roles in Dad’s Army and unspeakable cultural imperialism in ’Allo ’Allo! along with a running gag about a painting called (hold me) The fallen Madonna With The Big Boobies. So what would they have approved of? The only show I can think of is one that featured a storyline about a mixed race threesome with speech impediments living happily together, while one of them was imbued with magic powers. Izzy wizzy let’s get busy! Only Sooty would pass the snowflake test.

Just when you think life couldn’t get any worse, Gwyneth Paltrow’s garden has been splatted by the mudslide in California. Oh no!
