Why the lady in red’s my heroine

-

THE Sex War: An Update. This week, a group of famous Frenchwomen, with Catherine Deneuve at their head, signed a letter in Le Monde defending the rights of men to flirt.

Even being a bad or clumsy flirt was OK, they said, while rejecting the type of modern feminism that fuels movements such as #MeToo because it is ‘a hatred of men’. Hurrah for a bit of sense on the subject at last.

Meanwhile, actress Emma Watson says most women have ‘some experience’ of sexual harassment at work, while Ann Widdecombe claimed wolf-whistling is not wrong, but merely ‘cheerful appreciation’.

My friend Anna emails to say, ‘Frankly, darling, I’m at an age where if any man wants to hit on me they are more than welcome’, while American actresses are wearing black gowns to the Golden Globes as a sign they are, like, really upset about the lechers in their business, even though they all knew it was going on for ever.

Except actress Blanca Blanco (above), who turned up in a slashed red dress that barely contained her own golden globes. Heroine. Update over.
