IBROX CLUB MAKE THEIR MOVE FOR HAMILTON STAR DOCHERTY

RANGERS have made an initial approach for Hamilton midfielder Greg Docherty. The 21-year-old is on Graeme Murty’s wanted list after enjoying a hugely impressive season for the Lanarkshire outfit. It is understood preliminary contact has taken place between the clubs, but Accies have yet to receive an offer. If Rangers push ahead with a bid, they are likely to face competition from south of the border. A number of Championship sides, including Cardiff City, have been monitoring Docherty’s progress. The Scotland Under-21 cap came through the Accies youth system and made his debut back in 2013. He signed a new contract until 2020 earlier this season. Asked about the interest from Rangers in a radio interview on Thursday evening, Docherty said: ‘My friends keep me up to date with the stories but there has been nothing at all so far. If they’re talking about it in a positive manner, then that’s good, that’s what you want. But there has been nothing from Hamilton and, until that day comes, I’m happy to do my job here.’
