McKENNA STAYS BUT McLEAN COULD EXIT

- By GEORGE GRANT

DEREK McINNES insists Hull City are wasting their time making a third bid for Scott McKenna — but the Aberdeen boss is likely to be more amenable if Norwich City pursue an interest in Kenny McLean. Tigers manager Nigel Adkins has already had two offers of around £350,000 rejected for highly rated defender McKenna but, with his side battling to avoid relegation from the Championship, is likely to test the Dons’ resolve again. McInnes maintains the 21-yearold is staying put after recently extending his contract until 2021 but it is a different story with McLean after the midfielder declared his intention to leave when his deal ends in the summer. Although McInnes is reluctant to sell now, an anticipated £500,000 offer from the Carrow Road club could change his mind. ‘There’s been no official contact but I’m led to believe there will be an offer over the course of next week,’ said McInnes. ‘I’d be reluctant to lose any players at this stage but if offers come in, you have to look at them. ‘McKenna is on a four-year deal, so there’s no appetite to sell him, but when players are out of contract there might be a different way of looking at it. ‘I spoke with Nigel Adkins last week and McKenna was mentioned but Scott won’t be sold in January.’ McInnes hopes to sign Hamilton defender Mikey Devlin on a pre-contract agreement. Devlin is recovering from a serious injury but his current deal ends in the summer and McInnes has already held talks with him. ‘We informed Hamilton we’d be looking to speak to Mikey and we have done that. There’s nothing more to report at the minute.’ McKenna misses today’s Scottish Cup visit of St Mirren through suspension, while on-loan Manchester City midfielder Chidi Nwakali is still awaiting a work permit. ‘St Mirren look like a Premiership team in waiting,’ said McInnes. ‘We’ve got a tough game but we must make it tough for them.’
