WHEN classic bands like The Who and The Eagles reformed, it created a wave of excitement across the world.

Yesterday the Spice Girls made their own ripple in music history by reuniting.

Not that it’s a small deal in financial terms. They’re each reported to be picking up £10million. But diehard fans might end up feeling a little short-changed – as Posh Spice won’t even be singing.

The girl band – Geri Horner, Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham – reunited yesterday for the first time in six years.

A photograph of the beaming quintet was posted by Mrs Beckham, aka Posh Spice, captioned: ‘Love my girls !!!! So many kisses X. Exciting. X’

The group were joined by their original manager, PR guru Simon Fuller, at Mrs Horner’s mansion in Hertfordshire for a three-and-a-half hour meeting.

While a full tour seems unlikely, they are set to release a greatest hits album complete with merchandising deals, and have reportedly had offers of a TV series in China as well as hosting a talent show.

The full package is said to be worth £10million each – although Mrs Beckham, 43, has apparently been told she will not have to sing at any stage in the reunion.

The Mail understands Miss Chisholm, aka Sporty Spice, has also refused to sing any new material. The Spice Girls were formed in 1995, and became the most successful girl band in pop history. They split up in 2000, having sold more than 80million records.
