Brown vows to silence Rangers

- By MARK WILSON

SCOTT BROWN insists Celtic will aim to silence the confident noises emerging from Rangers by recording a fourth successive Ibrox win under Brendan Rodgers. The Parkhead club chalked up 2-1 and 5-1 victories at the home of their rivals last season, before a 2-0 triumph there in September. Rangers

have markedly improved following some key January additions and approach Sunday’s meeting on the back of six straight wins. That has spawned a new sense of belief, with manager Graeme Murty revealing his players had cheered when drawn against Celtic in the Scottish Cup last weekend. Brown, however, insists the champions’ self-belief has not been diminished as they seek a victory that would give them a nine-point lead at the Premiership summit. ‘They have managed to talk quite a lot this week,’ the Parkhead skipper told Celtic TV. ‘We will just do our usual job. In the last three games we have been excellent at Ibrox, with three wins there. The pressure is all on them. We managed it last season. We’ve got to try and do the same.’ A Rangers win would reduce the gap at the top to three points, making this the most fascinating league meeting between the clubs for years. ‘You can’t get caught up in it,’ added Brown. ‘I’ve been caught up in the situation and been sent off. You learn from your mistakes.’ Brown also reflected on his celebratory strut at Pittodrie last month after being clattered by a red-card challenge from Sam Cosgrove before Shay Logan thumped the ball at him. He said: ‘The game I play means I make tackles. You can’t lie about if you are giving it out.’
