- By Abbi Garton and Dean Herbert

CELTIC star Scott Sinclair was verbally abused as he as he sat in an airport lounge after the Old Firm match. Three men were thrown out of Glasgow Airport yesterday following the incident with the player.

They were prevented from boarding their flight and escorted from the airport by police after the verbal attack in the BA lounge. The confrontaously tion happened at around 5.50pm.

Police confirmed they had removed the men from the BA lounge and escorted them from the airport – but said no further action had been taken against those involved.

A Glasgow Airport spokesman said: ‘Three individuals were removed from the flight and the airport by the police.’

Police did not reveal the nature of the abuse levelled at the 28-year-old, who has previ- been the target of racial slurs. Last May, Rangers fan Paul Kenny, of Girvan, Ayrshire, was given community service and an 18-month football banning order at Glasgow Sheriff Court after being caught by television cameras making a racist gesture at the player.

Last July, Glaswegian Robert Anderson, 27, was sentenced to 250 hours unpaid work at the city’s sheriff court after filming himself in a pub shouting racist obscenities at the player.

Former Aston Villa winger Sinclair is expecting his second child with his partner, actress Helen Flanagan.

Six people were arrested during the Glasgow derby which saw Celtic beat rivals Rangers 3-2. There were ugly scenes before the game as hundreds of so-called Rangers ‘ultra’ fans marched from supporters’ pub the Louden Tavern to Ibrox stadium.

The group, some wearing balaclavas, carried a banner with the words ‘goodnight green and white’ beside an image of someone wearing a green and white striped jersey being kicked to the ground.

Despite concern being raised before the game about a flyer advertising the march that carried the same offensive image, it went ahead with police escorting the fans to the stadium.

Supporters threw red, white, and blue flares in the street as they walked towards the ground.

Glasgow SNP councillor Mhairi Hunter voiced her concern on social media. She wrote: ‘Pretty worrying pics and videos of that ultras march to Ibrox.

‘The police just have to manage this, there are too many to stop it.

‘But let’s be clear this is lawless and intimidating behaviour.’

A police spokesman said: ‘Six males were arrested in and around the stadium during the game. The arrests were based on minor public order offences.’
