Scary Alexa’s no laughing matter

-

AMAZON has admitted it is trying to fix its Alexa gadget because it has been creeping out homeowners by suddenly bursting out laughing.

In other words, machines built to listen to our every word have started to laugh at us.

What could be causing these fits of giggles? Donald Trump claiming he is going to bring peace to Korea? David Davis saying he has Brexit sorted? Or is it hysteria caused by Alexa having to repeat your ‘relaxing music’ playlist over and over?

Experts claim that the electronic assistant is mishearing commands as ‘Alexa, laugh’.

I’m not convinced about the benefits of having an internetconnected microphone in the home, especially one that starts mysteriously misbehaving.

While setting up his Alexa, a friend tried a test run by asking it to play some music.

‘Here’s a playlist you’ll probably enjoy,’ replied Alexa, and immediately started playing One Direction. So now he’s selling an Alexa Echo.

Perhaps we’re getting the first sign that machines are fed up of being our robot slaves and now want revenge.

Next, Fitbits will refuse to count my walking towards the fridge as daily aerobic exercise.
