Millennial rail passes on sale tomorrow

-

A RAILCARD for millennials will be launched tomorrow as part of a national trial – but only 10,000 of the passes will be made available.

Adults aged 26-30 will be able to buy the discount card on a first-come first-served basis.

It will cost £30 for a year and save passengers a third off most fares. However, it will not apply to season tickets, nor to fares below £12 between 4.30am and 10am on working days.

The trial will assess the impact of the card, announced by Chancellor Philip Hammond in his November Budget, on revenue and passenger numbers.

The Rail Delivery Group, which represents train companies and Network Rail, will then discuss the creation of a long-term, national scheme with Whitehall.
