Greek club president storms pitch with a gun
THE Greek Super League has been suspended indefinitely after a club president invaded the pitch with a gun during a match on Sunday. Ivan Savvidis, the PAOK Salonika chief, stormed the field with the firearm in a hip holster in a bid to confront the referee after his side had a late goal ruled out for offside against AEK Athens. Deeply concerned for their personal safety, the AEK players left the pitch immediately and the match was duly abandoned. Police are now seeking Savvidis to arrest him, while all top-flight matches have been put on hold.
