Meghan drops her biggest hint yet about plans for a family with Harry
THEIR wedding its just around the corner. And yesterday Meghan Markle dropped her biggest hint yet that she and Prince Harry are eager to start a family.
As she was shown a range of baby products, including a bath and a Moses basket, Miss Markle, 36, said: ‘I’m sure at some point we’ll need the whole thing.’
She and Harry, 33, were on an unannounced official trip to Northern Ireland, where they sampled Guinness and Irish stew. At a science park in a rainy Belfast, they were shown the array of innovative baby items by Shnuggle.
They included the baby bath, which has a ridge to allow the baby to sit up, a changing mat and the Moses basket, which Miss Markle said was ‘very sweet’.
Sinead Murphy, who founded the company with husband Adam, said afterwards: ‘They seemed very engaged with the products. Harry was particularly interested in the bath. I wonder if he has witnessed bathtime with his nephew or niece.’
Asked about the significance of Miss Markle’s baby hint, Mrs Murphy said: ‘With an upcoming marriage it’s likely there is going to be an announcement in the next few years. That’s the worst thing when you get married – people are just waiting.’
Miss Markle’s light-hearted comments followed a busy day of engagements for the couple, who met teenagers involved in a peace project and saw gory prosthetics used in film and TV dramas such as Game Of Thrones. Miss Markle wore a dark green skirt by Greta Constantine, a £530 cream coat by Mackage, £465 burnt orange Prada shoes, a tan-coloured £185 Charlotte Elizabeth bag and a Victoria Beckham jumper – which appeared to be the same one she wore for her engagement photographs. She and Harry visited Crown Liquor Saloon – a Victorian gin palace and tourist attraction now owned by the National Trust and famed for its ornate decorations.
The Prince ate sausage and champ while his fiancee tucked into Irish stew. They also ordered half a pint of Guinness and half of the local Mourne Mountain Brewery gold ale. Later, Miss Markle excitedly showed off her engagement ring to the crowds outside.
Roisin Kerr, 35, from Magherafelt, said: ‘It was a really lovely surprise. It means a lot to us that they decided to come here.’
At one point Miss Markle had to pull out an umbrella to shelter under as it started to rain, while an aide handed Harry a brolly.
Their first engagement had been at the Eikon Exhibition Centre – site of the old Maze prison – where they met teenagers from Amazing The Space – a youth-led initiative which aims to empower young people across Northern Ireland to become ambassadors for peace within their communities.
Ryan McCallion, 17, who welcomed the couple, said: ‘They were so humble and down-to-earth. They were really interested in what we were doing.
‘Compared to what our parents have gone through, it’s easier for the younger generation.’
