6 Scots to watch Down Under...

-

DUNCAN SCOTT (Swimming)

The 20-year-old, who was the first British man to break the 48-second mark for 100m freestyle, goes for individual and relay glory. He already has Olympic and World Championship medals as part of the Team GB relay squad.

EILIDH DOYLE (Athletics)

Former Team GB athletics captain has the raw pace to worry any rival and the 31-year-old will be looking to go one better than silvers she won over 400m hurdles in Delhi and Glasgow. She has a key role in 4x400 relay squad, too.

SAMMI KINGHORN (Athletics)

World champion over 100 and 200m, the wheelchair racer has been forced by the para-sports schedule to go for 1,500m and — even more remarkably — the marathon. But anything is possible with this 22-year-old.

KATIE ARCHIBALD (Cycling)

THE ‘unofficial omnium’ is how Archibald, 24, describes her brutal programme here. First it’s the points race and the scratch race in the velodrome for the girl with three World Championship golds to her name, then the time trial and road race on the tarmac.

JACK CARLIN (Cycling)

Inspired by Sir Chris Hoy, Carlin, 20, came home from recent World Championships with two silver medals for individual sprint and team sprint. Will tackle the individual sprint and Keirin at the velodrome.

HANNAH MILEY (Swimming)

Could become first Scot in any sport to win in three straight Commonwealth Games. Miley, 28, who won 400m individual medley title in Delhi and Glasgow, will also swim in 200 IM, 200 breaststroke — and at least one relay event.
