Will the original WAG be hitting the fashion hotspots of Glasgow?
HIS wife was one of the original WAGs who travelled the world to watch her footballer husband at World Cups and Champions League fixtures.
But now Steven Gerrard’s other half, Alex, is facing regular trips to Ibrox to watch the former England captain take on his toughest challenge yet.
The one-time Liverpool star was yesterday unveiled as the new manager of Rangers, signing a four-year deal with the Glasgow club.
He replaces Graeme Murty, who was placed in interim charge following the October sacking of Pedro Caixinha. Gerrard, 3 , who leaves his role as a youth coach at Anfield to take up the Rangers job this summer, captained both Liverpool and England in an 18-year playing career, during which he won the Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League.
His other half, meanwhile, was one of the original wives and girlfriends (WAGs) of high-profile footballers alongside the likes of Victoria Beckham and Coleen Rooney.
The England team WAGs came into sharp focus during the 2006 World Cup in Germany, when their shopping and socialising around the town of BadenBaden hit the headlines during the tournament, where England crashed out at the quarterfinal stage.
Mrs Gerrard later supported her husband at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and the 2014 tournament in Brazil, as well as spending a year in the USA when he signed for LA Galaxy at the end of his playing career.
It is not yet known whether the Gerrards will move to Scotland permanently, but many Old Firm signings can usually be found house-hunting in upmarket areas such as Bothwell, Lanarkshire, and areas of Dunbartonshire.
Mrs Gerrard, a former nail technician from Merseyside, met her husband in 2002.
The pair married five years later. They have four children – daughters Lilly-Ella, 13, Lexie, 11, and Lourdes, five, and a baby son Lio.
The 35-year-old model has previously launched her own fragrance, ‘Alex’, in 200 , as well as her own design collection ‘Forever Unique by Alex Gerrard’ in 2010. A second collection was launched in 2011.
She was announced as the model for the Lipsy VIP fashion range in 2013.
