Who should walk Meghan Markle down the aisle at the royal wedding?

-

HOW I sympathise with Thomas Markle. He was living quietly in a Mexican backwater when one of his daughters decides to marry into the Royal Family. Like many fathers, he appears to hate being dragged into the paraphernalia of a wedding. Why else do men dress as if they are going to a funeral while women are attired flamboyantly? SHEILA BELL, Codford, Wilts. IN The 21st century, why is it deemed necessary for a bride to be given away? The equality and diversity lobby should be up in arms. Why can’t harry and Meghan walk down the aisle together hand in hand? That’s what we did and just to complete the occasion, we were joined by our two dogs.

P. LEWIS, Aldwick, W. Sussex.

THOMAS MARKLE should proudly walk his daughter down the aisle. He has done nothing wrong in making a few dollars for a handful of

snaps. Anyone with a daughter marrying a Prince would do the same. Another family in this position is making money out of their royal connection. G. DAWSON, Liverpool.

MEGHAN’S father needs a few lessons from Michael Middleton, who was an impeccable father of the bride. He did what was expected of him, winning the admiration of us all. PATRICIA SCHOFIELD, Linton, Cambs.

WHY wasn’t Meghan’s father invited to stay in this country weeks before the wedding so he could settle in and meet Prince Harry and the rest of the Royal Family? It would have helped him to prepare for the etiquette required from him. Expecting him to fly over this week, recover from jet lag, be suited and booted and attend rehearsals for the wedding was too much for a 73-year-old not in the best of health. He should have been shown the respect and consideration due to him as Meghan’s father and not be treated as an optional add-on. Mrs C. BRUNTON, Enfield, Middlesex.

WHY should there be such a fuss about Meghan Markle’s father posing for photographs? You just have to look at magazines such as Hello! to see that is what all the so-called celebrities do, including relatives of Prince Harry. C. NEWTON, Irthlingborough, Northants.

I KNOW it’s short notice, but I don’t mind walking Meghan down the aisle on condition I can have her father’s Cup Final ticket. GEOFFREY PALMER, Nottingham.

DIVORCED American actress marries Prince. The cake is a glorified Victoria sponge. The bride’s father may not be there. The wedding breakfast is served in bowls. Sounds more like Coronation Street than a Royal Wedding. JOHN BOULTON, Lincoln.
