Hockney’s £30m record night …

THE record auction price for a David Hockney painting was smashed twice in the same evening after two works fetched nearly £30million.

The British artist’s 1990 masterpiece Pacific Coast Highway And Santa Monica, pictured, went for £21million at Sotheby’s in New York on Wednesday.

Earlier in the evening, 1978 work Piscine de Medianoche (Paper Pool 30) was bought for £8.6million – £22,000 more than the previous record for a Hockney painting in 2016. Sotheby’s said demand for Hockney’s art is at an ‘all-time high’.
