The Doctor will sign you now... no, not there
WHILE his time Lord alter-ego may be ready for any adventure across time and space, it appears the actor behind the tenth Doctor has a line he does not cross.
David tennant has told fans at a US signing event that he won’t be penning his signature on any ‘offensive’ items – despite the £325 price tag for his autograph.
Some fans, it seems, have had a penchant for getting the Doctor to put his name to more revealing parts of the body.
the David tennant Gold VIP Package at Wizard World Des Moines comic convention warns: ‘Note that talent has the right to refuse to sign an item they consider offensive.
‘up to two adults and two children, ten or under, may be in the photo.’
the pricey package includes a chance to meet their hero, and a Doctor Who goodie bag. it is more than four times the price his predecessor christopher Ecclestone is asking at his first ever convention signing appearance in London, in July.
tennant has become a star on both sides of the atlantic with his appearance in Marvel’s Jessica Jones.
tennant’s signing fee also includes an 8in by 10in photo, a goodie bag retailed at £56, priority seating and early entry to the convention.
the move comes after tennant revealed fans had approached him in private places, while naked.
tennant said that once he was washing after exercising when he was handed a soggy piece of paper to sign. actors are often asked to sign body parts during conventions.
tennant said: ‘People do get a bit overexcited, of course, because... you know people asking for an autograph in the shower at the gym, that’s quite weird.’
Eccelston, who will be at London comic con on July 29, will be signing autographs for £95 and appearing in photos for £85.
the first modern reincarnation of the Doctor has avoided conventions.
He told itV’s Lorraine in 2017: ‘i’ve never done conventions.
‘i know there’s a lot of money there but i’ve always wanted to just earn my living by acting, and that’s not a judgment on people who do them... it’s just the way i am.’
