Scout who won all 63 badges (at the age of ten!)

- By Sam Walker

a sCoTs schoolboy has become the first person in Britain to gain every single Cub scout badge – at the age of only ten.

Gregor kennedy was awarded his 63rd badge last week, only three years after joining the Cub pack near his home in kirriemuir, angus.

He is believed to be the only Cub to have added the gardening badge – which was launched in January and takes at least two months to achieve – to his full set.

as well as gaining all 62 challenge and activity badges, Gregor boasts a Thistle badge, reserved for Cubs north of the Border.

His achievement has won him an army of fans, including astronaut major Tim Peake, who acknowledged the feat on social media.

The primary six pupil said learning to rollerblade was one of the trickiest challenges, while his favourite badge was the equestrian. He said: ‘i got to ride a horse, i love it. i learned

‘Gregor really knuckled down’

so much about horses and how to take care of them.’

encouraged by his father John kennedy, 40, Gregor started going for his badges after reaching the minimum Cub scouting age of seven-and-a-half.

He whizzed through the 15 staged activity badges before taking on the 39 activity badges, then won the eight challenge badges. finally he was awarded his Thistle badge

His proud mother emma kennedy, 45, said: ‘it’s amazing. Gregor likes to have something to focus on.

‘He found out none of the Cubs had earned all their badges, realised he could be the first one and really knuckled down. He was quite determined. ‘He is absolutely thrilled.’ a spokesman for the scouts said that, although historically others have gained all the badges, Gregor is thought to be the first Cub scout in the country to gain the current collection.
