Pretty teacher has nothing to do with rumour, says father
THE father of the pretty teacher at the centre of the Beckham divorce rumours has furiously denied that his daughter was involved with the football star.
He claimed she had ‘never met’ the ex-England captain and called the online gossip ‘utter drivel’ caused by ‘fake news’.
The bemused father said his daughter had been ‘bombarded’ with hundreds of messages since claims started circulating on social media.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: ‘She came home last week. If there was anything in this she would’ve said – I am very, very close to my daughter. It’s utter, utter drivel. My daughter [said she] has never met David Beckham. I believe her. We are very close.’ The woman concerned is understood to live with her boyfriend.
Her father said that while the footballer had visited his daughter’s workplace, they had never spoken and her employer had contacted lawyers since the gossip began.
He admitted she had to remove her social media profiles after being contacted by strangers. ‘She’s been bombarded with eight or nine hundred messages today,’ he said. ‘Facebook, Instagram, the lot has been taken down.’
The rumours began circulating online on Friday, leading to wild speculation about the nature of the Beckhams’ marriage and the possibility of an imminent announcement of a divorce. Spokesmen for David and Victoria have branded the rumours ‘very bizarre and an embarrassing waste of time’.
It comes as a PR is being investigated by her employer for spreading gossip – which is unsubstantiated – about the Beckhams. The woman in question is understood to have sent her family an email about the Beckhams from her work computer on Friday, which was quickly saved and shared with the public online.
Soon afterwards, a high street bookmaker suspended betting on the couple getting a divorce.
Sources told the Sun on Sunday that the Beckhams are ‘furious’ about the email gossip, which is not thought to have been the original source of the rumours.
The Communications Store, a London-based PR agency which represents Marks & Spencer and Gordon Ramsay, said it has suspended a worker pending an investigation.
A spokesman said: ‘In this case, a junior employee was commenting to her family members on gossip that was already circulating on Twitter.
‘Although that should never have happened, she did not originate anything.
‘The HR team at TCS are dealing with this member of staff in the correct manner.’
