DEJA VIEW

Man buys 10ft photo of Forth Bridge, despite seeing it every time he looks out window!

- By Liam Ross

EVERY morning when he opens the curtains, Stuart Slicer is treated to a glorious vista of the Forth Bridge.

So it came as something of a shock to his wife when he returned from a charity auction with a picture of the same view.

The 58-year-old, who has travelled across the engineering masterpiece thousands of times in his job as a ScotRail train driver, left his family in hysterics after unveiling his latest purchase.

Much to his wife Helen’s dismay, Mr Slicer, of South Queensferry, bought the 10ft by 4ft print for a ‘three-figure sum’ at an auction during the Ferry Fair Festival on Friday night.

Mrs Slicer, 56, said: ‘He was warned not to come back with any rubbish. It won’t be here for very long. My daughter’s getting married next year so it could be used as a good backdrop for that.’

Mr Slicer said he knew he had to have it as soon as it came up. He added: ‘It’s great. Once I saw it I thought, “I want it”. But when I told my wife, she said, “It’s not going on our wall”.’
