My looming menopause made me sleep with married men

- By Liz Hull

A WOMAN author has revealed how she embarked on a string of one-night stands with married men after experiencing a surge in her libido in middle age.

Karin Jones, a mother aged 52, said she experienced ‘aching bouts of desire’ in the run up to her menopause and would become ‘unhinged’ if she didn’t have sex several times a day.

The former health worker, who had separated from her husband of 23 years, said she registered with a dating website which specialised in ‘no-strings’ encounters for married people to fulfil her needs.

And she claimed finding men in London for a ‘few hours of unencumbered, uncomplicated bliss’ was so easy it was like ‘walking into a sweet shop with a pocket full of cash’.

Miss Jones said: ‘At 49, I experienced a tsunami of disrupting events: I separated from my husband of 23 years, began my slide into midlife, and experienced a libido surge so intense I became unhinged if I didn’t get sexual release several times a day.

‘This kind of horniness happens to some of us midlife women, though it’s not getting talked about much. We’re not told by our doctors to expect aching bouts of desire to accompany our hot flashes. If you have someone who is willing to have sex with you three times a day (or more) you might be fine. If not, you’ll need to get creative.’

Miss Jones, relationships editor at Erotic Review magazine, added: ‘I went through this experience, which lasted over a year. I didn’t want a relationship; I was too wrapped up with grieving my marriage and taking care of my young son.

‘But my body wasn’t letting me off the hook when it came to sex. Fortunately, I lived near London. Finding men to have sex with was like walking into a sweet shop with a pocket full of cash.’

She said she initially tried dating apps but found the sheer volume of questionable men on such sites intimidating.

Instead, she registered with IllicitEncounters.com, a UK site for married men or women. The site has more than a million users, though it is claimed men using it far outnumber the women. Many of those men are high-earners.

She said all her lovers made it clear they were only interested in sex and didn’t want their family life disrupted. Some wives, Miss Jones claimed, had even given their husbands permission to have sex elsewhere.

Miss Jones insisted: ‘My libido surge didn’t result in any broken homes. I only slept with men who told me they loved their wives and were certainly not about to leave them for me.

‘They weren’t afraid to talk to me about the reasons they were in my bed instead of their own.

‘I pressed them to explain why they weren’t having this conversation with their wives. Most had tried – many times. But it’s such a painful thing to discuss.’

Last month Gweneth Lee, a financial consultant from Chelsea, was accused of being a home wrecker after claiming she has had sex with more than 100 married men that she met though IllicitEncounters.com.

Miss Lee, 47, whose husband died of cancer ten years ago, went on ITV’s Good Morning and said more than one of her partners has told her that their intimacy saved his marriage.
