THE £9M BHOY

Celtic poised to complete record deal for Edouard

- By STEPHEN McGOWAN

ODSONNE EDOUARD is set to shatter Celtic’s transfer record in a deal worth £9million.

The French striker will complete a permanent move to Glasgow after the Parkhead club agreed a fee with Paris Saint-Germain.

Given a deadline of tomorrow to exercise an option on the 20-year-old, the Scottish champions could pay £6.5m up front with the potential for another £2.2m in add-ons.

It will be the highest transfer fee paid by a Scottish club since rangers signed Tore andre Flo from Chelsea for £12m in

November 2000 and the Edouard deal will shatter the previous Celtic club record of £6m, paid for Chris Sutton, John Hartson and Neil Lennon, respectively. Edouard spent last season on loan at Parkhead, scoring 11 goals — including a double in the 5-0 rout of Rangers which secured a seventh straight title. PSG need to sell £53m worth of players by the end of June to comply with UEFA financial fair play (FFP) ‘break even’ regulations. Edouard’s arrival will trigger fresh speculation over the future of Moussa Dembele, a £20m target for Brighton in January. Celtic midfielder Eboue Kouassi, meanwhile, could be poised for the exit after attracting enquiries from French Ligue 1 Nice and Rennes. The 20-year-old signed for £3million in January 2017 and also has interest from Belgian sides, with his contract running until 2021. Elsewhere, Celtic sources have dismissed talk of a move for Sheffield Wednesday free-agent midfielder Sean Clare.
