GEORGE HORNE (scrum-half)

Two tries against Argentina followed his debut in the loss to the USA. There is a spark about Horne’s scrum-half play that makes him a better attacking threat than his rivals for the nine jersey such as Greig Laidlaw, Ali Price and Henry Pyrgos. He has taken his chance to show his worth on this tour but he will face tougher challenges. Provided Horne (right) gets enough game time for Glasgow Warriors at the start of next season, he could be Scotland’s No 1 scrum-half by the time of the next series of Scotland international matches in November.

ADAM HASTINGS (fly-half )

Two starts against the USA and Argentina and a debut off the bench against Canada. Although Hastings (right) struggled against America in Houston, he showed his strength of character by bouncing back and putting in a super display against the Pumas. As well as setting up George Horne’s two tries in Resistencia, he showed great game management. He still has a lot to prove but has real potential. He is not good enough yet to challenge for Finn Russell’s starting jersey but he could become his understudy.

DAVID DENTON (No 8)

The pick of the Scotland pack by a long way. He played in all three matches at eight and looked back to his best after an injury-hit couple of years. Kept his best display for last as he dominated the breakdown against Argentina. With Josh Strauss dropping out of the picture, Adam Ashe injury prone and Ryan Wilson inconsistent, he could make that shirt his own.
