They charge big booking fees, so what am I paying for?

-

A MUSIC fan cancelled both his bank cards after being caught up in the Ticketmaster data breach.

Ryan Williams, pictured with his favourite pop star Selena Gomez, has used the website around 50 times since buying his first ticket to see Peter Andre, nine years ago.

He said: ‘I always use Ticketmaster and have trusted them with my personal details for all these years. They have my address, passwords and all the details for both my cards.

‘It’s terrifying knowing all that information could now be in anyone’s hands.

‘I have a Barclays and Halifax card stored on there but am ringing up the banks and cancelling them both straight away. It’s just not worth the risk.’ Mr Williams, 21, has also contacted a lawyer who said he will take on the case because it’s a severe data breach.

He said: ‘They charge expensive booking fees, but what am I paying for? For my data to be stolen by a hacker.

‘After this it’s probably safer buying second-hand tickets off eBay. From now on I’ll be a lot more careful about putting my card details online.’

Mr Williams, from Essex, slammed the website for its ‘terrible’ handling of the data breach and said they need to issue a sincere apology to all customers.

He said: ‘The worst thing is it sounds like this data breach has been going on since February but I didn’t get the email until 4.20pm today. Why are they only telling us now?’
