THIS month Glasgow will take centre stage as a new era in the world of sport gets under way with the inaugural new-look European Championships.

Alongside co-host Berlin, this exciting multi-sport event brings together some of the Continent’s leading sports. Glasgow hosts aquatic events, cycling, golf, gymnastics, rowing and the triathlon, while Berlin has athletics.

With 52 competing nations, spectators in Scotland can expect 11 days of brilliant sporting action across the six sports as the best athletes in Europe battle it out to be crowned the champion of Europe.

They will include double Olympic and three-time European gymnastics champion Max Whitlock, four-time golf major winner Dame Laura Davis and world champion swimmer Adam Peaty.

Alongside the sporting action is Festival 2018, an arts and cultural programme offering more than 100 live performances across music, circus, dance, theatre, visual art and more.

Taking place in Glasgow and other host areas, including Stirling, East Dunbartonshire and Edinburgh, Festival 2018 will run in conjunction with the European Championships, bringing a carnival atmosphere to the sporting action.
